Education is widely accepted to be a fundamental resource, both for individuals and societies. However, around the world children are excluded from accessing education on the basis of gender, disability, poverty, ethnicity, language and displacement.
According to the 2019 data from UNHCR, 48% of all refugee children of school age are out of school. 77% are enrolled in primary school, 31% in secondary school and only 3% in higher education.
