Our mission is to empower refugee, displaced and at-risk youth in Pakistan, Afghanistan through education. We are committed to providing a safe environment for children who are unable to pursue their education due to political conflicts, displacement, economic hardships and lack of resources.

WHAT WE DO

Education is the key to everything. We aim to empower young refugees while they are in refugee settlements or in transit. The first step toward empowerment is to make sure children are able to go to school. For many refugee children, that means a chance to learn, to play, to socialize, and to experience childhood.

We are committed to providing a safer learning environment and help them raise their voice.

How we work

Espalo partners with schools in Afghanistan and Pakistan. In Pakistan, we partner with Pamir High school and Al-Berooni High school. We also support fourteen students in Pakistan with their education expenses monthly.

In 2019, Espalo successfully secured two scholarships for two girls from Afghanistan. Both are currently studying in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Our aim is to continue to build more academic partnerships with schools and colleges in the US and abroad to support even more students with higher education, especially girls.

We are hoping that our students in the US bring their educational experiences and learnings back to their home country.

WHY YOU SHOULD CARE

Education promotes peace, enhances social inclusion, fosters acceptance, and creates global human connection.
